Opportunity Forum #7

The Tampa Bay History Center came alive with vibrant conversation, intellectual engagement, and a touch of adventure as we hosted our seventh Opportunity Forum. Nearly 100 of Tampa’s most successful and community-minded individuals joined us for an unforgettable night, where the spotlight was on the city’s rich history and cultural identity.

Master storyteller and renowned interviewer Cal Fussman captivated the audience alongside Rodney Kite-Powell, Director of the Touchton Map Library. Together, they delved into the legend of Tampa’s mythical pirate, José Gaspar, and the enduring cultural and economic impact of the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. Their lively discussion sparked thoughtful questions and enthusiastic dialogue among our guests.

Guests also embraced their competitive spirit during an innovative scavenger hunt, navigating the museum to uncover Tampa’s hidden historical gems. The challenge not only entertained but deepened everyone’s appreciation for the city’s roots. To top it off, the stunning venue provided the perfect setting for meaningful conversation, connections, consensus and – fulfilling Kairos’ mission – collaboration between members of the Kairos Exchange Community.

The evening was a resounding success—filled with laughter, learning, and inspiration. Thanks to all who attended and made this event truly special.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the History Center team for their generous support and to the exceptional catering from the Columbia Restaurant.

Register now for our next Kairos Opportunity Forum on May 1st at Vu Studios Tampa as we explore how AI could impact practically every aspect of our community and our lives.
